Why Polyaspartic Floor Coatings Are The “New” Epoxy

Polyaspartic floor coatings are the “next generation” of powerful, durable floor coatings for concrete.

While most homeowners and business owners think of “epoxy” when they think of a durable finish coating for their floors, polyaspartic has been the go-to among professionals for the last decade.

That’s because polyaspartic coatings provide a far more dependable finish to concrete, resisting cracks and corrosion while looking great for years.

Here’s what sets polyaspartic floor coatings apart:

Won’t fade or yellow due to ultraviolet light (UV) light exposure like epoxy will, making them perfect for garages or daylight basements that receive lots of sun exposure through windows or open doors.

Polyaspartic floor coatings are incredibly tough, but they have just enough flexibility to withstand the small amounts of shrinking and expanding that occurs naturally when concrete floors experience hot and cold weather. Garage floors that have been coated with traditional epoxy will inevitably crack because they simply can’t handle those tiny movements!

Polyaspartic floor coatings cure in 12-24 hours, compared to days for epoxy floor coatings! You’ll be back on your floor in no time.

Polyaspartic coatings won’t “delaminate” from exposure to hot car tires that may rest in the same spot every day after work over the course of years. Epoxy can come loose from the underlying concrete, peel, and flake off in these “high-traffic” locations.

Everlast Concrete Coatings has been helping property owners in the Finger Lakes region protect their floors (and increase their property value!) for nearly a decade. If you’re looking for the best polyaspartic floor coating company, this is it.

The Power Of Working With a Stellar Polyaspartic Coating Company

Worry Less

Polyaspartic floor coatings will protect your garage or basement floor from just about anything you can throw at them. Go ahead, put your polyaspartic floor coating through the wringer worry-free.

Love Your Home

Our polyaspartic floor coatings come in a variety of colors and aesthetics, meaning we can match any home design and decor. Create the entertaining space you’ve always dreamed of – and don’t worry about the kids tramping on it.

Our Polyaspartic Coating Process:
Less Mess, More Enjoying

On the day of your scheduled installation, our team arrives in the morning and gets to work preparing the concrete. You will need to have the space clear of furniture and personal belongings.

This involves sweeping for dust and large debris, and in some cases, using a shop vacuum to ensure there’s as little dirt as possible on the surface of the floor.

We grind out and then fill large cracks or divots in your concrete with a rapid-curing patch formula before sweeping up and dust and dirt. We also prepare and protect any fixtures in your floor, like drains or pipes.

We roll on a commercial-grade polyaspartic floor coating by hand, using small hand-tools to get into corners and at edges.

For a standard 2-car garage, we will be done within one day. Your polyaspartic floor coating will then need to dry through the end of the second day before you can begin moving back in!

Less mess, more simplicity, and a floor
for peace of mind and great looks.

FAQs About Polyaspartic Coatings

Polyaspartic floor coatings are a type of high-performance, two-part resin coating derived from aliphatic polyurea. They offer rapid curing times and exceptional durability, making polyaspartic a great choice for both residential and commercial flooring applications.
While both are durable, polyaspartic coatings cure faster than epoxy coatings (for shorter installation times) and offer better “flex” to combat cracks over time. Additionally, polyaspartic coatings have better UV resistance than epoxy, ensuring they won’t yellow or degrade when exposed to sunlight. Epoxy can yellow in as little as two years!
One of the main advantages of polyaspartic coatings is their rapid curing time. Depending on the formulation and environmental conditions, a properly applied polyaspartic coating can cure in as little as 1-2 hours.
Yes! Polyaspartic floor coatings have excellent resistance to ultraviolet light (UV), which means they won’t yellow or degrade when exposed to direct sunlight.
Absolutely! Their UV resistance and durability make polyaspartic coatings an excellent choice for outdoor applications like patios, walkways, and pool decks.
With proper installation and maintenance, polyaspartic floor coatings can last for a decade or more. Their longevity will surpass traditional epoxy coatings, making them a cost-effective choice in the long run. At the same time, they will hold up better than epoxy, particularly in spaces that are not climate-controlled, like garages or outdoors.
Polyaspartic-coated floors are low- to no-maintenance. Regular cleaning with a mild soap and water will keep them looking great.
Due to their rapid curing time, the installation of polyaspartic coatings is less disruptive than other types of floor coatings, namely epoxy. Most of our projects can be completed in 24-48 hours or less, minimizing downtime for you and your family.
Our polyaspartic coatings have low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content, making them a more environmentally friendly option compared to some traditional coatings.
Yes! Our polyaspartic coatings are available in a wide variety of colors, and decorative chips.
We don’t recommend it, but you can probably save some money (though not time) with a DIY polyaspartic floor coating kit. We’ve fixed or re-done enough homeowner epoxy projects to know that experience goes a long way. If you want a seamless (and hassle-free) floor coating experience, work with Everlast for peace of mind.
